Eolas Ecology was set up in 2015 by Catherine Reilly BSc (Hons), MCIEEM to provide quality ecological consultancy solutions throughout Ireland and the UK. We aim to provide our clients with practical solutions, advice and support tailored to their needs.

Catherine Reilly BSc (Hons)Catherine has worked in the environmental industry since 2004. She started her career working within the NGO sector, undertaking environmental conservation works such as habitat creation and enhancement and delivering environmental education to a range of students from post primary to university level. Catherine then began working as an ecological consultant in 2006.

During her career she has provided ecological services to a wide range of projects varying from large scale developments such as wind farms, housing projects, road infrastructure projects to smaller developments such as single wind turbines, healthcare and education developments and single dwellings to include demolition and refurbishment.

Catherine is a highly experienced field ecologist and mammal surveyor, having extensive experience in planning and conducting protected species surveys with particular expertise in bat activity surveys and bat mitigation design proposals. She is a committee member of the Northern Ireland Bat Group and regularly provides advice on habitat enhancement for bats and derogation licences. Catherine has extensive experience in undertaking habitat surveys in a variety of lowland sites.

She has experience in undertaking Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), production of habitat management plans, appropriate assessments and the production and implementation of appropriate mitigation proposals ensuring that developments do not have a significant adverse impact on the environment.

Catherine has over eight years’ experience in invasive species surveys including provision of appropriate management plans on various development sites. She has extensive experience in undertaking BREEAM/CSH ecology assessments, providing site specific advice to help achieve higher credit ratings where possible.

She has experience in working with a variety of different project team members such as landscape architects and contractors in order to achieve a balanced and ecologically sound development which meets the needs of the client and the current environmental requirements.

Catherine is a full member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (MCIEEM).
